Lost in a Sea of Black Coffee

Sometimes I watch or read what's the news depending on what the source is. Right now it's: “Democracy Now, The War on Peace Report” with Amy Goodman. I like her because she is unbiased. It is a journalist responsibility to remain neutral. I have been fascinated with current events ever since the 9th grade-- when my history teacher started our class off with the daily newspaper. Politics and current events interest me. I wanted to address some of the news that I've heard today.MC-Donald's offering higher wages-- other than the minimum in the United States. I feel really strong about this headline, because it's time that people organize protests about the low wages. As a a fact I support the idea of raising the national minimum wage to $15 hour.

However, I understand how capitalism works and maximum profits feeds off of exploitation (many people make money off of other's losses.) There is no way around it unless we abolish capitalism. I have read some Karl Marx in my time and if there's one thing Karl taught me besides his strong convictions about capitalism-- is to talk about the “system.” The other headline news I heard today was about the “Trans Pacific Partnership” (TPP). This is an investment treaty between 12 different countries-- the United States included. It's globalization and lack of transparency ...surrounds it is unprecedented. It makes me think what would Marx do? The TPP the reason our global trade agreements are whack. It's a sad day when there is hidden information from the public.

I hope I can be the of the light to spread in an open diplomatic discussion about capitalism. And thank you Amy Goodman-
